We are creating Jolla’s Sailfish OS mobile devices, which are designed with consumer needs in mind, such as intuitive use, multitasking and effortless interaction. We are a crew of 120+ people from 20 different countries. We have offices in Helsinki, Tampere and Hong Kong, and many people from all over the world are contributing to our Sailfish OS and mobile device development.

We are currently looking for a Startup and Shutdown System Expert to join our Jolla boat. This position can be based in one of our offices in Finland in Helsinki or Tampere. This position can also be a remote working position for someone to work from his/her home. In this role you will be dealing holistically with the system services management of Sailfish OS. You will be working closely with our R&D team.

This is a permanent, full-time position and starts immediately once the selection process is completed.

Requirements

You are the person we are looking for, if you

  • have expertise in init systems, systemd, shell scripting, embedded devices
  • consider Lennart Poettering your personal hero
  • preferably have used Linux before, if not, are a fast learner to grasp the basics
  • are a good communicator who pro-actively brings issues to closure
  • have good command of English language, other languages seen as an advantage
  • have good team working skills and can do –attitude

Internal Tools Developer

We are currently looking for an Internal Tools Developer to join our Jolla boat. This position is based in our office in Finland in Helsinki. In this role you will be helping with the development and maintenance of internal tools that utilize many technologies from Linux and web-development worlds. You will be working closely with our R&D team.

This is a permanent, full-time position and starts immediately once the selection process is completed.

Requirements

You are the person we are looking for, if you

  • have experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, coffeescript (or js), postgresql, c/c++
  • python, d3, backbone, marionette, linux kernel, gcc, scratchbox, Dota 2, sauerbraten are regarded as an advantage
  • use and like Linux
  • use and like technically driven JFDI or similar methodologies
  • are a good communicator who pro-actively brings issues to closure
  • have a good command of English language, other languages seen as an advantage
  • have good team working skills and can-do attitude

Qt/QML UI Engineer

We are currently looking for a Qt/QML UI Engineer to join our Jolla boat. This position is based in our office in Finland in Tampere. In this role you will be doing the platform and application UI work for SailfishOS. You will be working closely with our R&D and Design teams.

This is a permanent, full-time position and starts immediately once the selection process is completed.

Requirements

You are the person we are looking for, if you/your

  • have multiple years of experience in C/C++
  • have background in Qt or QML application or UI framework development
  • portfolio shows skills in building pixel perfect, fluid views and animations
  • are familiar with Linux OS architecture, ways of doing things
  • have DBus, SQL, GLib knowledge, which is regarded beneficial
  • know how write performance critical code, and take profiling seriously
  • preferably have used Linux before, if not, are a fast learner to grasp the basics
  • are a good communicator who pro-actively brings issues to closure
  • have good command of English language, other languages seen as an advantage
  • have good team working skills and can do –attitude

Browser engineer

We are currently looking for a Browser Engineer to join our Jolla boat. This position can be based in one of our offices in Finland in Helsinki or Tampere. In this role you will be fixing rendering issues, performance and keeping up with upstream. You will be working closely with our R&D team.

This is a permanent, full-time position and starts immediately once the selection process is completed.

Requirements

You are the person we are looking for, if you

  • have great skills in C++, JavaScript, python and cross platform build tools;
  • have hands-on experience with Chromium framework, cross platform component object model (XPCOM), inter-process communication in Gecko(e10s) and, by the way, having accepted commits in upstream (either Gecko or Webkit) would be very beneficial
  • preferably have used Linux before, if not, are a fast learner to grasp the basics
  • are a good communicator who pro-actively brings issues to closure
  • have a good command of English language, other languages seen as an advantage

SDK Developer

We are currently looking for a SDK Developer to join our Jolla boat. This position can be based in one of our offices in Finland in Helsinki or Tampere. This position can also be a remote working position for someone to work from his/her home.

In this role you will be part of the SDK development team. You will be developing the Qt Creator Mer plugin, the Mer SDK and the device emulator for different form factors. Overall, you will continue the SDK developments as well as work on the SDK build automation. You should also participate in creating the SDK documentation and providing support for the Sailfish developer community. Having Qt upstream experience is considered very beneficial in this position.

SDK Lead Developer

We are creating Jolla smartphones running on Sailfish, which are designed with consumer needs in mind, such as intuitive use, multitasking and effortless interaction.

We are currently looking for a SDK Lead Developer to join our Jolla boat. This position can be based in one of our offices in Finland in Helsinki or Tampere.

In this role you will be leading the SDK developer team and acting as the SDK chief. You will ensure SDK releases are done together with device SW releases. You are also responsible for creating the SDK release notes and keeping the known issues list up-to-date. In addition to these tasks, you will be developing the Qt Creator Mer plugin, the Mer SDK and the device emulator for different form factors. Overall, you should plan and continue the SDK development as well as the SDK build and test automation. Having Qt upstream experience is considered very beneficial in this position.
